Phil Ivey Is Your Player Of The Year

Player Of The Year Poll Results

Phil Ivey

Phil Ivey has been voted PokerPlayer.co.uk's Player of the Year thanks to his World Series of Poker heroics

The votes for our 'Who is the Player of the Year?' poll are in, and there is only one resounding answer: Phil Ivey! Exactly half of you voted for the man who recorded an incredible World Series with two bracelets and a 7th place finish in the Main Event. Here are the results;

Phil Ivey - 50%
James Akenhead - 18%
ElkY - 9.5%
Joe Cada - 9%
Daniel Negreanu - 7%
Praz Bansi - 6.5%

Although a long way behind Ivey, James Akenhead didn't really have a rival for second place. 18% of you were swayed by his gutsy performances at the WSOP and WSOPE. Interestingly, the voting was closed before his Poker Million win - we wonder whether the inclusion of that result would have brought him much closer to Ivey or even past him?

Below Akenhead, the voting was much tighter, ElkY's consistent year put him above Joe Cada's single - albeit rather large - victory. Daniel Negreanu was next, just a whisker ahead of Praz Bansi. Although Bansi is officially the UK Player of the Year, he received the least votes.
