Former WSOPE champion Annette Obrestad wins PLO side event at Aussie Millions

The Aussie Millions is always one of the highlights of the poker year. The 2010 edition is already well under way with six side events having taken place. Matthew Ephraums won the first event, $1,100 No Limit Hold'em collecting $200,025. That tournament drew a superb field of 1,143 players all eager to get involved in Australia's largest poker festival.

The highlight of the Aussie Millions so far was reserved for event four, an $1,100 PLO tournament. Superstar Annette Obrestad bested the other 159 players to bolster her claim as the world's best female player. No doubt the 'Huntress' - as she was dubbed on a recent episode of Poker After Dark - will now be looking forward to the $10,000 main event which starts on Sunday. Last year she was close to making the final table, finishing in 21st place after leading the tournament for much of the way.

PokerPlayer.co.uk will be keeping you up to date with all the big winners from the 2010 Aussie Millions in the weeks to come.
