French gaming laws may prevent Les Bleus from playing on foreign poker sites but luckily such rules don’t apply in Blighty and London native Siicklas took full advantage this week to claim the FCOOP.
Although a deal had already been struck between the last five players in the two day €500,000 guaranteed event, Siicklas dominated the final table, building a 5-1 chip lead before spiking an Ace on the river to knock out Defrey_w83 heads up.
And Siicklas wasn’t the only foreigner present in the 1,344 field, with leading pros Barry Greenstein, Marcel Luske, Joe Hachem and Liv Boeree spotted on the FCOOP tables and fellow Brit John Duthie finishing in the money.
After the mind-blowing prize pools in this year’s WCOOP, PokerStars is determined to roll out regional online championships throughout Europe and, with the French leg done and dusted, UK players won’t have to wait long till the UKCOOP this December.
The final table payouts were as follows:
1. Siicklas €96,268
2. defray_w83 €60,271
3. musicalpj €63,848
4. Pokerjuif €59,427
5. hinayaa €73,186
6. GuyNuX €23,335
7. rodmaster198 €16,335
8. quent162 €10,734
9. Nico Turtle €7,093
