Toby ‘810clubs’ Lewis is fast becoming one of the UK’s top online MTT specialists, and this week the Brit added a hard-fought TCOOP title to last year’s WCOOP success in event #16 of PokerStars’ newest tournament festival.
The 2010 EPT Vilamoura champ saw off over 12,000 runners in the $55 buy-in turbo event. And with $10 bounties on every players’ head, the vast field was whittled down in a little over six hours, as PokerStars’ TCOOP continues to live up to its turbo reputation.
Heading into the final table low in chips, Lewis quickly found himself riding high when his Ah-6h rivered two-pair to beat 0123Gliukas’ As-10s. And after refusing to cut a deal seven-handed, Lewis rode out a shove-fest, which saw his Aces cracked by a dirty 7d-5s three-handed, to bank the top prize,
In the final hand, it was vic_xcite's turn to runbad when his Ah-Qh was outflopped by Lewis’ As-5d on a 6h-5s-7h flop. And despite a slew of outs, vic_xcite couldn’t catch up, giving Team UK its second PokerStars title of the week alongside James Akenhead’s Sunday Million success.
Here’s how TCOOP #16 finished up:
1. 810ofclubs $68,676.14
2. vic_xcite $48,546.25
3. bradok77 $35,214.90
4. xaffer $25,153.50
5. flopperflush $20,122.80
6. Asso_PB $15,092.10
7. CigerBabe $10,061.40
8. Slart42 $5,030.70
9. 0123Gliukas $3,144.18
