As the dust settles on the 2007 Wsorld series of Poker in Las Vegas, thoughts turn to the World Series of Poker Europe, due to be staged in London in September.

The event promises to be the the richest, at least in terms of the first place prize, poker tournament outside of the WSOP $10,000 Main Event.

Betfair Poker will guarantee players’ seats at the World Series of Poker Europe 2007. As the official online satellite provider and presenting sponsor, Betfair is committed to sending more than 125 players to the first WSOP bracelet event ever to take place outside Las Vegas.

“As presenting sponsor I want Betfair to have a strong presence,” said Head of Poker Ben Fried, “there are a limited number of seats and at Betfair Poker you can be assured that you will have a place at the tables in London.”

Pro player Ben Grundy said: “There are so many issues these days with online qualification, particularly for the World Series. It’s worth going with Betfair Poker just for the value they provide, but also your seat is more secure.”

Stuart Drysdale alias “CreamBun” was one of Team Betfair’s first online qualifiers. He is used to playing in MTTs from $5 to $20 so the WSOP Europe is a very large step up.

“I am only a break-even player at those levels,” he said. “If I can do it, that must mean that plenty of other low-stakes players can as well. And with the $0.01 satellites there is ample opportunity.”

Betfair Poker has launched its $250,000 Freeroll Grand Final, where 10 packages (worth $23,000 each) plus $20,000 will be given away. It takes place in September and is part of a $1.5m WSOP Europe promotion Betfair Poker will be running until the event.

Betfair Poker regulars can qualify for the Grand Final after by generating 250 Betfair points and playing in Sundays’ 2pm freeroll series starting 22 July. In each of these freerolls 50 seats in the Grand Final will be won.

Direct MTT qualification into the WSOP Europe presented by Betfair.com is available for $110, $315 and $780. Qualifiers to these MTTs are available at any stakes from as low as $0.01.

Direct STT qualification is available for $2,500 (9 seats) and $3,800 (6 seats).
