Eugene Katchalov wins $2.4 million at record-breaking World Poker Tour Doyle Brunson Classic

Eugene Katchalov has won the World Poker Tour Doyle Brunson Classic held at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, pocketing $2,482,605 for his troubles.

The tournament was notable for many reasons. Firstly, it was the richest tournament ever outside of the World Series of Poker Main Event and the WPT World Championship with a total prize pool adding up to $9,661,200.

Secondly, it featured the fastest final table in World Poker Tour history, lasting just 53 hands.

The field was star-studded, with Daniel Negreanu and Eric Lindgren both going deep, but only one marquee name made the final stages and that was Hull's own Dave 'Devilfish' Ulliot, who finished third, winning a very healthy $674,500.

Katchalov also wins a $25,500 seat in the 2008 WPT World Championship, which will take place at Bellagio in April 2008.

Final results:
1. Eugene Katchalov, $2,482,605
2. Ted Kearly, $1,252,640
3. Dave Ulliott, $674,500
4. Kenneth Rosen, $433,675
5. Jordan Rich, $289,070
6. Ryan Daut, $192,715
7. Raymond Davis, $173,445
8. Jimmy Tran, $154,170
9. Matthew Casterella, $134,900
