paddypower.com launches its 2008 World Series of Poker Outright Winner betting market

paddypower.com has launched an Outright Winner betting market for the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event, as the field was reduced to the final nine players and in a break from tradition, play is suspended until the final table recommences on 9 November.

A total of 6,844 players took part in the $10,000 Main Event, and it took eleven days of play to reduce the huge field to just nine players.

All of the big-name professionals and pre-tournament favourites have been eliminated, and the final nine will face intense media scrutiny in the run-up to the concluding day of the world’s most important poker tournament.

Over $32m remains in the prizepool, with 9th place guaranteed more than $900k and the outright winner taking over $9.1m

Chip-leader Dennis Phillips from the USA is available at 4/1, while Irish Open 2007 9th place finisher Peter Eastgate of Denmark is available at 9/2.
