The resident of Malibu, California, took the title, the coveted WSOP bracelet and the $12million first prize, in the early hours of Friday morning after defeating Paul Wasicka in the heads-up showdown.
The winning hand was the 236th of the final table - and saw Wasicka call Gold's initial raise of $1.7m. The flop produced Qc, 8h, 5h and Wasicka bet $1.5m.
Soon-to-be-champ Gold then raised all-in, and Wasicka called, turning over his pair of tens (hearts, spades). Gold turned over Qs, 9c, giving him a pair of Queens. The Ace on the turn and the four of clubs on the river couldn't help Wasicka, and Jamie Gold became the 2006 WSOP Champion.
