Dave “Devilfish” Ulliott, ambassador for DevilfishPoker.com, got his New Year off to a flying start with a victory over 126 opponents in the €750 side event at the recent Irish Poker Championship in Galway. He collected €33,000 for his win after dominating the tournament from the early stages and amassing a massive chip lead which he used to play text book loose-aggressive poker.
Three-handed he was up against the formidable Surinder Sunar who recently won the pot-limit Omaha event at the Amsterdam Master Classics and Donal Norton who was runner-up in the 2008 Irish Open but his chip advantage and relentless aggression saw him bulldoze his way to victory.
Ulliott, who now heads to Melbourne for the Aussie Millions, said, “I got a lot of chips early in the tournament which meant players were moving in with all sorts of marginal hands.
