De Wolfe wins UK bracelet

Did you know that Roland de Wolfe is from the UK?

Roland de Wolfe completes the poker 'Triple Crown' and wins the UK's second WSOP bracelet

Former two-time InsidePoker UK Player of the Year Roland de Wolfe has won his first WSOP bracelet and created poker history in the process. In winning the $ 5,000 Pot-limit Omaha Hi-Lo event, de Wolfe joins PokerStars pro Gavin Griffin as the only players to have captured poker's 'Triple Crown' - EPT, WPT and WSOP titles.

The win follows closely on the heels of fellow UK player JP Kelly's bracelet late last week and de Wolfe said this latest bracelet has a lot of implications for the British poker scene, 'poker is alive and well in Britain...I hope my win and JP's win will push the game over the line and continue to help the game grow in Britain.'

Since bursting onto the world poker scene in 2006 by winning both an EPT and WPT title in quick succession, de Wolfe had been tipped for WSOP glory. However, despite four final table appearances his WSOP form had never lived up to expectations.

That made it all the more unusual that de Wolfe would eventually break his duck in a PLO Hi-Lo event, a game he says he had never played properly before! The win takes the charismatic Londoner's total tournament winnings to $ 4,453,445 - second in the UK all-time list behind only Dave 'Devilfish' Ulliott.

This second bracelet for the UK at this year's festival already beats last year's disappointing tally of one, won by Marty Smyth in the $ 10,000 PLO World Championship. There was another close call for the UK in a $ 1,500 No-limit Hold'em event as former Eastenders actor turned poker pro Michael Greco came in 3rd. Long live the UK bracelet charge...
