How to win the WSOP
Secrets of success

We asked Hachem for his Main Event top tips, so read on and it could be you

1. Get plenty of experience in live tournaments before you head to the World Series. (Check out p66 for HillyTheFish’s attempt at winning The Conquest of Paradise Island.)

2. DON’T go all-in when you’ve got 90-minute blind levels – there’s just no need. The WSOP structure is slower than most people have experienced if they’ve not played in a large tournament.

3. Play online every day. That’s where I did my practise – two to three tournaments a day.

4. The biggest mistake amateurs make is that they fall in love with their hands. It’s hard to dump A-K, A-Q, etc, but if you hit top pair and someone’s testing you for all your chips, you need to just stop and consider your situation.

5. Slow it down in a live tournament. People think they have to act within a certain time because they’re used to it online. But you’ve got loads of time to sit and take stock of the situation at the WSOP.
