Mike stuck a couple of hundred thousand dollars in his sports betting account shortly before he was incarcerated and despite having a fairly healthy start to the season lost the lot towards the end with two whacking great $100,000 bets.

Matusow should have listened to Doyle Brunson when Howard Lederer bet him that The Shawshank Redemption didn’t win an Oscar. Brunson told Mike not to accept the bet because he’d lost money on it earlier. Mike bet anyway. D’oh!

THE POKER BRAT

Mike Matusow finally won something when Phil Hellmuth – in one of his lesser moments – bet The Mouth $1,000 that A-K off-suit was favourite over A-K suited. Apparently Hellmuth was, ‘going on a fact’ he’d heard months earlier.
