Website Reviews

GG.com

GG.com offers a wide range of useful services for the discerning horse racing punter

Horse racing news/betting news
This site contains a basic racing news section displaying most of the breaking stories. There?s a decent number of stories, although the focus is more on racing-related issues rather than betting.

Market movers
Nothing evident.

Odds comparisons
It has a wide enough range of bookmakers, but it?s a bit visually irksome, as the text for the prices is needlessly small. However, the brief comparison on the racecards is a nifty idea.

Columnists
Malcolm Heyhoe pens a few columns, and there are contributions and tips from Christina Reading, Paul Smith, Ian Carnaby, Andrew Mount and Mark Crosby. You have to pay for these, though.

Results and fixtures
There are quick results and a more rounded past results section that goes back a week. There?s little in the way of fixtures, although the next day?s race cards are listed.

Tips
A free basic tips page gives a selection for every race of the day. There are also several subscription-based tipster services.

Text and email alerts
You can receive email and text alerts about your favourite horse, with a capacity of up to 50 horses. Tips are also provided via SMS, which is a great feature.

Commentary
No longer available online.

Stats
No extensive statistics are archived on the site, but there are profiles of horses, jockeys and trainers in the racing area.

Form
A pop-up containing an at-a-glance summary of recent form is linked from the race card, which is a helpful tool.

General overview
A useful resource. The most beneficial content is only available via subscription, though, and some betting news or market movers would be an asset. Nevertheless, the site has plenty going for it.

RATING 6/10
